Last week I said farewell to my role at the AMA ACT and reflected on the experience that this has been. The part that I have loved the most was the connection with my colleagues. The daily reason to try to do better for our profession and our patients.
Medicine is a team sport. There are few times when it doesn’t involve the invisible collaboration between doctors, patients, nurses and allied health. Whether it is by ordering a test, seeking advice, or referring to a guideline that hundreds of people have collaborated to produce. We do this better together.
Over the next few months I will be catching up on sleep, exercise and reading good books as I travel. I want to thank everyone who helped me in my role, and wish Dr Betty Ge all the best in stepping into this leadership role. I look forward to being part of her Council and continuing to support the doctors and patients of Canberra when I return in September.
