Venice is a city to get lost in. I had a few things on the list – the Peggy Guggenheim museum and a little bookshop with a staircase made of books, but mostly I wandered the maze of streets and side alleys along the canals and found little shops to explore and small museums and galleries.
The Peggy Guggenheim museum is very special. I booked a ticket at opening time and had some of the small rooms all to myself before the crowd arrived. The gardens are beautiful and a lovely place to sit and escape the heat.

I set off to find the Liberia Acqua Alta bookshop on the second day, and was not disappointed by the stacks of books, the staircase of books with canal views and the cats roaming the desk.

After this shop I just wandered for hours, taking turns and small streets as I found them and got happily lost. There is so much to see.

As I am back solo travelling I have enjoyed meeting people during happy hour and to hotel and have found some wonderful women from NZ and the US to have dinner with over the last few nights.
Today I head off to Milan to spend my final days in Italy before I head to France.
